Bought a dozen bagels. The owner asked me to wait 15 minutes while he cooked up a fresh batch...worth the wait to take hot bagels back to the house. They were very good, larger than most. But the best I've had recently are from Bagels Forever in Madison WI.

Found this little place on our last vacay and I must say I was pretty impressed. The bagels were really good and I'm not a big egg person but I got the bacon, egg and cheese on like a southwest bagel or something and it was seriously one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. This is a must and they're about the only ones open before 10am.

Great breakfast spot. Good food, nice outdoor seating, friendly staff. Quiet spot, too.

First of all, when you check in at Schmagel's Bagels on Yelp, there is a deal (currently). So do it! Went here because it was close to our hotel. There was an array of choices in both bagel and cream cheese and there were many other sandwich choices. The food was fresh and tasty and I loved the veggie cream cheese. I also noticed that they have a monthly cream cheese offering that changes. It was Apple Cinnamon this January 2012. My only complaint is the wait for a bagel with cream cheese. It was longish. The seats outside are cool and I liked it all. Great breakfast joint!

Their specialty cream cheese flavors each month are to die for. The chocolate chip is AMAZING! The everything bagels are delicious. A must try every time you are in St. Augustine.

Great place for breakfast! Have a bagel plain or as a sandwich...any way you like it, they'll make it for you! I enjoyed the everything bagel w/ schmear and egg. The staff was super friendly and the outdoor patio seating was nice. We went here every morning we were in St. Augustine for breakfast!

Delicious and quick! I got the Jamin Salmon Wrap & it was the best lox I've had in awhile! They obviously take pride in their food & it shows! The lox was thick and flavorful. The other ingredients, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, & lettuce were super fresh. The chive cream cheese with chives and capers were a great mix of the sweet lox and vegi's. It's a small mom and pop that is doing it right! Easy, fresh, delicious foods. I will be back next time I'm in town (or before we leave this trip!)

Absolutely the worst bagel I have ever attempted to eat. Like biting a tire. Or an old shoe. They have surpassed staleness by dint of some special effort. Girlfriends cinnamon raisin had onion courtesy of an unwiped knife.

Yummy bagel with cream cheese! Next time I probably will ask for cream cheese on the side, though, because they really cake it on. Great way to start my morning!

I personally did not eat here but my fiancé did. It looks like a pretty cool place ran by a bunch of college kids. They were all very polite and did good work. My fiancé's finger was bleeding and they also gave her a Band-Aid just cause they're nice people. The only reason I'm giving it four stars, is that they did not have any everything bagels, so she had to order a garlic bagel instead. Her breath was so bad after that it literally made me sick during our $200 dinner for Valentine's Day. Like most chicks, my girl is pretty sensitive about stuff like that so I couldn't really call her out on being a garlic generating breath machine. I tried to turn my head to talk to her as much as I could, but if I got a whiff of her garlic breath it would make me sick to my stomach. It really did make me sick though I did $200 dinner. We had to go back to the hotel room so I could lay down, and when she laid next to me and breathe in my face I thought I was going to throw up and had to run to the bathroom a number of times. In short, don't order a garlic bagel if you care about your breath, especially if you're going on a date or you are with your significant other.

The iced coffee and my bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich were both great! I would like it if the bagels were a little lighter, but they are still better than most bagel south of NJ. My boyfriend had the cinnamon raisin with strawberry cream cheese which seemed really fresh. I'll go back :-)

Loved the food great small place with great service and good food. Centrally located. Would go back everyday! Ordered coffee and a bacon egg cheese sandwich on everything bagel. Yum:)

Great Bagels. The Sesame has so many seeds! Lots of cream cheese options. The check-in deal isn't what it seems. You have to buy two drinks and another bagel in order to get the free one. I would go again.

This is one of the places where locals eat, so you know it's good. CONS: - The music doesn't fit. They were playing Lite 96.1 WEJZ Jacksonville, which is a 80s, 90s, and today (A.K.A. Adult Contemporary) station. The country songs fit the place perfectly, so they should switch to a country station. However, Oasis by Wonderwall fit OK and it seemed natural that the cashier was whistling to Hungry Like The Wolf by Duran Duran, because the place was built in 1989. - Not a lot of bagel and cream cheese options. The menu is mostly bagel sandwiches and paninis. They do use Boar's Head meat and cheeses though. - There are fake carnations at the booths. I think they look horrifically tacky and completely conflict with the overall look. PROS: - All the paintings on the walls are of St. Augustine. That really adds to the small town and small bagel joint/diner feel. - There are a few cream cheese flavors on the menu, but there is a new additional flavor every month, so you never get bored of eating 'just' a bagel. - They deliver by motorcycle. How badass is that? - There are flavored syrups for the coffee and soda. They have French vanilla, Irish cream, hazelnut, and coconut. - They have sriracha sauce at the tables instead of ketchup, mustard, etc. Hot sauce at tables is typical in the South, so, even though I don't use hot sauce, I thought the sriracha added to the overall ambiance. - Free Wi-Fi that you can use at the two-person booths inside or the wrought iron bistro tables outside. WHAT I'VE TRIED THERE: Blueberry bagel, plain bagel, strawberry cream cheese, almond honey cream cheese, and Jamaican Me Crazy coffee (caramel-vanilla flavored coffee). I'm from New Jersey so I know good bagels, and I give Schmagel's props, especially for the cream cheese, which you get a lot of. I also drink a lot of coffee, and always appreciate unique blends. Jamaican Me Crazy is strong and has different kinds of flavors as you're drinking it, good stuff.

Sometimes a simple meal is just as good as an elaborate one. Loves this little shop and their menu. Choices were light and fresh and perfect size for lunch before walking around. Had the Mediterranean sandwich on a sundried tomato bagel. Good choice, I would recommend!

I was skeptical when I walked in and saw t-sorts rather than bagels in the display cabinet. But, I was hungry, so. .. bummer, how do you get a bagel this hard and dry. My homemade bagels are way better than these. Come On yelpers, learn what a good bagel is! One star for being cute.

Really good bagels. Cinnamon crunch bagel and honey almond cream cheese was really good. Closest to New York bagels in a Florida location.

The egg & bacon wrap was really good and fresh. The place is cute. We went at 8am on a weekday so it was empty but the Good was Good. My breakfast wrap gets 4 stars.

Good breakfast of ham, egg and cheese bagels for a family of four. Lots of bagels to choose from, fast service and nice people. Sit outside on the patio and enjoy. Great start to the day for less than $20.

I was pretty disappointed after reading all the great reviews. I expected a fresh warm bagel topped with an explosive flavor of cream cheese; I got a stale bagel with eh, some cream cheese. I can tell that the right flavors are there but if you're going to have the word bagel in the restaurant name I don't think you should serve any that are sub par. Staff was friendly though and it's a clean, cozy establishment.

Who knew you could get a really good bagel in North Florida? This place is so good we had breakfast here two days in a row. The Nova, cream cheese with chives is wonderful. they make a really good onion bagel. The coffee is only so-so. The second day we got take-out coffee from Kookaburra on the plaza and brought it to the bagel shop.

My husband and I had a light lunch here yesterday while walking around St. Augustine. I had a BLT on an everything bagel with olive cream cheese, while the hubs had a philly panini. The cream cheese was good, the bagel was a little tough and some of the seeds tasted a bit burned (maybe too much toasting?). Overall, we thought the sandwiches were good, but the wait time was ridiculous at almost 30 minutes at around two in the afternoon, with only one other couple around. I can only imagine what the wait time is like in the mornings with the breakfast rush. Also, if you sit in the front patio beware of the ants...they bite!

Always loved coming here when I went to Flagler College. Friendly service and great food. Conveniently located right in the downtown area so it's close to everything. Everything about this place just ozzes local shop and I love it. Highly recommend it.

My friends and I went to Schmagel's for breakfast on a recent trip to St. Augustine. It is a very cute place. As a transplanted New Yorker, I have to admit that i am a bit of a bagel snob. A good bagel does not require toasting and is a little chewy and browned on the outside and moist and dense on the inside. Best when it is still a bit warm. The bagels here just don't hold up in my opinion. They are not boiled bagels. The sesame bagels have WAY too many sesame seeds on them and the seeds are not toasted. I found the veggie cream cheese to be too salty. The Floridian part of me is a bit of an orange juice snob. I was told the orange juice was fresh-squeezed, but instead I found something more like tropicana in my styrofoam cup. That is another area in need of improvement. Two of my friends had bagel sandwiches and I was impressed that they cooked real eggs fresh to order. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Just Around the corner. Schmagels Bagels, Schmagels Bagels is one of the best places for breakfast. Actually let me say the best place for breakfast if you are in love with bagels. Bagels are my favorite bread and Schmagels Bagels makes them best. They are without fail, always fresh. Nothing starts my day better than a Nova Scotia on a double toasted everything. With a side of Orange Juice. Call the order in and take a short walk and enjoy the scenery. Thanks Guys & Girls,

first time in st. augustine and i had this for breakfast, OH MAN, the BEST bagel sandwich i've ever had! i had turkey with honey mustard, i was in love after the first bite. very friendly staff, made it better. only downside is, it was my last day in st. augustine and i had to return for lunch before i left, and they were closed!! they close too early! it was maybe 2:10 and they closed at 2:00. really disappointing. so i only had it once and i can't wait to take another trip to florida and i'll definately be coming back here. until then, i'll just dream..

Somewhere in St. Augustine is one of the only bagel places that popped up on my radar. A small little place just off of the main street, Schmagel's Bagels certainly has a customer flow and presence in St. Augustine. For a foggy damp early morning, customers marched in and out for bagels and coffee. The bagels were pretty good, and the lox was tasty. I felt the place was a bit overpriced for what is was worth. We ordered two lox/bagel and two coffees. Coming in at about $9 for a bagel with lox, I wanted to get the Yelp Deal value from the guy and I was refused. The deal was buy one bagel/cream cheese and two drinks and get a free bagel/cream cheese. I couldn't even get a free coffee out of the exhange. bottomline, I would have been better off buying one lox/bagel, a bagel/cream cheese, and two coffees and I would have seen more value for my money. I mean, come on.... a free coffee for two people who just bought one of the pricier items on your menu... anyway, enough rant. All in all, if you're in the area and want a bagel, like this Jew does so often, then Schmagel's is still a worthwhile place to go.

6/29/14. Stopped here after church for takeout. Everything was good. Only problem was that I asked for the bagels to be sliced. They stapled the bag so I didn't check. We were staying in hotel and didn't have any cuttlery. When we got back the bagels weren't sliced. It wasn't a big order so this should have been easy. But everything tasted good.

Schmagel's is pretty great and, having visited Saint Augustine for the past 35 years it wasn't until my most recent visit that I even discovered this restaurant, tucked away across the street from Scarlet O'Hara's. Schmagels has several types of bagels, but I like their sesame ones the best. They are completely caked in sesame seeds. I noticed one reviewer who purports to say that this isn't the way it should be done. But I say, if it tastes good, then do it! There's not one way to make bagels. The bagels are all soft and doughy, and have an excellent texture. They also have numerous flavors of cream cheese, although I only went for plain old fashioned cream cheese without any added flavors. The salmon bagel wasn't the best I've had, but it was good enough. I'd probably get something else on my next visit, and I DEFINITELY will be visiting Schmagel's when next I'm in Saint Aug! Also, I should mention that the employees are extremely nice and fun to talk with. Parking is kind of difficult...I parked in the lot across the street or down by the nearby church.
